Happy Ramblers RD#12 MDRA Final
After the dust settled and the last gate dropped on the Happy Ramblers facility and the MDRA season. It is time to get ready for the MDRA banquet in just a few short weeks. With almost 20 titles, and a lot of awards now just awaiting to be claimed. The 2009 season was exactly what it should have been, better then 2008. And it will be even better in 2010 as well with Promoters Groups and track owners working hard to make even more and bigger changes to the series next year. I have some details, but nothing is final as of yet. But you can bet you'll find out as soon as I do.
The last race at Happy Ramblers for 2009 season saw a bit more changes to the track. And as always, a great staff working all day long on the track as needed. From the 50cc classes to the Open A class, we had some really talented kids on the Happy track at this last MDRA race of 2009. And every moto was well worth watching. The C classes were as big as any this year, qualifiers are the norm today for both 250 and Open C classes. Happy Ramblers itself seems to have really solid following of 50cc riders too. Maybe be cause they do the entire track or be cause it is well taken care of all day long, either way. The 50cc classes are usually pretty big ones in both MDRA and at the Happy Jams track. Lets see what else went on this last weekend of racing in MDRA series.

Here is MD.'s own Arena cross rider #444 of Chad Wages. The Fox/EVO backed rider laid down a good moto in both 250 A and Open A class. But Chad had some bad luck in one of the two moto's in each class. Making his overalls show less than his ability and efforts. One good thing is the A class pays per moto, so his 2-3 score in each class got him something back for his troubles.

The 50cc 7-8 class saw of the best of the best out in it. Names like Leitzel, Rogers, and Shockey lined the gate in this class. But Shawn Rothstein's #40 rode a solid 3-3-3 in the class on the day. With a stacked field like that, I'd say that's a great day for the #40 cobra rider. Nice job!

BSY/O'neal Backed rider Tony Archer #50 made his way to the Happy Rambler's final MDRA race of 2009. Archer went 1-1-1 three times on this day and that makes anyone smile on a YZF bucks race. Tony is a great kid that make my job easy at times. His fluid movement on the bike and flawless riding style makes for some easy shots. Great ride all weekend Tony!

AMS's own Mike Bear #914 wrapped up 3 titles in the MDRA series on Sunday. And like most of the AMS team Mike rode both series in 2009 and was top three in those classes as well. Mike put in some of the best rides at the end of the year besting Dixon one moto at Miles Mtn. And making Carsten protect the inside on the last corner of the last lap at Hurricane Hills one moto as well. When Mikey's on, he is on!

The 250 B class was a heavily stacked field. This is Happy Rambler's own Josh Fisher #04 and Clayton Powers #247 battling to the last lap in the B class. Josh ended the the day in 11th and Clayton was 15th respectively. Both Suzuki pilots put in good rides all day long.

FastMann/Fox rider Dakota Yohe #7X is a Happy Ramblers native. With Yohe paving sponsoring some races every year now with some 4ft. trophies. Thanks to the Yohe Paving Co. for the local help. It go's a long ways, and not unnoticed. Dakota's #7 was 1st in the 2-stroke SB class and 2nd in the 4-stroke SB class. Both great rides!

Our MDRA regulars like Ryan Clites #14, Brandon Garlock #108, Jacob Runkles #27 all had there hands full with the #28 KTM's of National Champion Alexander Fry on hand. While no one got the better of Fry on this day, the MDRA regulars pushed the #28 all the way to the checkers in all the classes he entered.

Lewis Mckay #19 showed up ready to do battle in the C classes. The CRF mounted rider was at the front of the pack in every moto of both 250 C and Open C classes. He won the Open C class, and was 2nd in the 250 C class by days end. And he did it with some fast kids in the classes too, real nice job Lewis!

I am pretty sure this is David Moiser #58 here on this WMX service 500cc 2-stroke machine. And I have to say, wow! I can only imagine the bikes feel and power. I raced the 500cc bikes when the were still around, before the AMA killed them forever. I myself, liked the big bores a lot. And so did many others. This bad boy here must be a dream to ride, all that 2 stroke power stuffed into a 450 frame. Super cool bike, but way to much power for me now days. But then so is any 450 too really?!

This was the pass for the win in moto #1 of the woman's class. With the #23 of Heather Snyder getting the better of the RM mounted ride of Stevey. Heather launches it here to make the pass over the big table top in the middle. I was impressed with Heather's jumping ability and comfortably on the bike. Though Stevey put in the 2-1-1 for the overall, Heather was impressive too. A real good race to see.
There was much more great racing action and will cover more, with title winner updates as well before the banquet comes around. I want to the MDRA , the Happy Ramblers staff and all of you the fans, racers and friends. I am never happy to see a season come to a close. I always said one day, I am y pack up a move to a season round racing area. But I always just end up just using the winter months to vacate south for a while and right back to the north east. I truly think we have some of the best racers, tracks and series in the country right here. I think once this Triple Crown Shootout gets going and has a fallowing it will be a great addition to some series. It's almost like out own little super bowl of MX. It just needs some time to grow, support and patients and it will be a great event I am sure.
This was a tough season for me, with being hurt and of course the lose of my mom. But somehow we managed threw it and look forward to the next year ahead of us.
