Matt Rice: So first off, let everyone know a little about yourself.

Luke Renzland: My name is Luke Renzland, but most people call me lewd. I'm 15 years old and working as hard as I can to become a successful pro motocross racer. I'm home schooled so I have the time to travel around the country for the big amateur events. I got my first dirtbike when I was two, and I've been hooked on motocross ever since.

MR:This weekend, you had an area qualifier at Raceway Park where you went 8 for 8, 4 overalls and I think at one point I clocked you as having about 30 seconds on 2nd. How did you feel your weekend went?
LR:: This past weekend was perfect. I was loving it. The track crew did a great job preparing the track and I think it was the best I've ever seen it. The weather was also beautiful. I went into the weekend determined to put a gap on second place in every moto, and that's what I did. My hole shots were great, which makes the whole moto a lot easier of course, and I put the charge on every moto. The weekend was just a blast, and I'm hoping to keep the rest of the season rolling as good as it went there.

MR: Now last year at Lorettas, you got in for both Schoolboys and did very well in Schoolboy 1. This year your in for the Regional in 4 classes. What kind of goals are you setting for yourself with Loretta's getting closer?

LR: Yeah, last year was probably the best year at Loretta's I've had. I ended up 6th overall in Schoolboy 1 with only factory riders ahead of me. It was my 4th top ten finish I've gotten there, but it was by far the happiest I've been with my riding there. This year I'm focusing mostly on the Schoolboy 1 class. I feel like my riding style fits the 125 so perfectly and I have really high hopes of going down there swinging and turning heads. I'm just planning on working as hard as I can with Kody (my brother and trainer) and my goals are to get a championship this year.

MR: Your out there on the 2 strokes and from what I heard and saw, your ripping on both. Do you feel like you can run up front in the 250 B classes for Lorettas against 4 strokes?
LR: Yeah for sure. I feel confident that my speed is good enough to run with nearly anyone in 250 B. Of course, 250 B is a little bit more difficult than schoolboy because the riders are older, but I think my speed is good enough to run up front.

MR: It sounds great out there hearing a 2 stroke by itself. Where did the decision to ride both 125 and 250 2 strokes come from?
LR: When I was 13 I got my first 125 and began practicing on that full time even though I was racing little bikes. I put so much time on that bike and just felt so good on it. Then, I tried my brothers 250 two stroke and I fell in love with it. It's like a 125 with twice the power. It has so much torque but it is still light and easy to corner. I got my own 250 two stroke and put a bunch of time on that. Then, once I had to get on a four stroke for the Schoolboy 2 class last year, I had no experience with one and just wasn't the same rider. I struggled on the four strokes so I decided to stick with the two strokes. I love the sound of hucking a huge whisky throttle on them, and I love how people are always coming up to me talking about the "sweet sound of the two strokes" haha.

MR: Hard to say that its oldschool but I miss the sound, its refreshing. You mentioned your brother Kody is acting as trainer. What has he been doing to help you out?
LR: He's the best brother anyone can ask for. He is my mechanic, trainer, motivator, and brother all at once. As the training goes, he has a program set up for me for on the bike training as well as off the bike. All the hard work is paying off for me, and I'm ready for my results to show everyone how hard we have been working. Kody is dedicated 100% to making me the best rider I can be. He spends every day working on my bikes and doing the training program with me. I'm really blessed to have him behind me, and can't wait to take him to the top with me.

MR: Thats great you keep it all family and how hard Kody and the rest of your family is working. How are the sponsors treating you so far and who is working with you?
LR: My sponsors are great. I can't thank them enough. I've had all my sponsors for quite some time now and the only thing I've switched recently is my gear to O'neal. I have to say thanks to My mom and Dad, Kody, Sussex Motorsports, Pro Circuit, Factory Connection, O'neal, 5L Enterprises, Madesigns, and Dave Koban

MR: Well thanks a lot Luke for your time and good luck this year!
LR: Thanks a lot, and thanks for having me.

JW: What have you been up to since last season with racing, training, etc.?
TA: Well I’ve been focusing on my starts more than anything because that seems to be my weakest point. I always think of the start as half of the race and in amateur stuff you only have 4 laps to make it up with a bad start and it makes it easier to be out front. Other than that I’ve been doing some strength training to be able to handle my 450 and I’ve also been improving on my cardio for this summer’s nationals.

JW: How has racing been going, I saw you down at the Winter Am’s in FLorida but I'm not 100% sure of your results?
TA: Its been great, I’ve been putting in the work to get better and It’s been paying off. I did all six rounds and ended up with both overall championships in 250 pro and 450 pro. I wasn’t sure how I would do going down but once I got out there I realized my endurance was good enough to capitalize on other riders who were getting tired so my results were good in the beginning for that reason only it seems. Then about 3 rounds in I felt my speed improving along with my cardio and I just improved from there.

JW:  What about your competition down there? The majority of the racers were from the north, all of whom seemed to be running up front in your class and most of the other classes.
TA:  Yeah definitely a lot of the people were from up north like Steven Stella, Broc Schmelyun, Seth Rarick and a few others but everyone down there was riding great so it seemed like we were all pushing each other to go faster. Steve Stella was on fire and was definitely the guy to beat. And unfortunately Broc Schmelyun got hurt after the first round but it was definitely stacked down there with people from up north.

JW: How do you think Broc [Schmelyun] would have finished up if he didn’t get injured so early? He was going pretty well at the first round.
TA: I think Broc would have done great. He was on fire and had awesome endurance. I definitely think if someone could battle with Stella I thought it would be Broc who could do it. I know Broc has been training really hard and it sucked to see that he got hurt so early, I would have liked to see how he would have done.

JW: What are your plans for the season so far and what nationals are you planning on racing?
TA: My plans so far involve just staying in shape and figuring out all of my sponsorships. For now all I have planned are the High Point and Budds Creek nationals. If I do well enough ill try to do all of the east coast rounds and try to keep improving. I’m mainly going to work on my speed and technique because to do well at a national you have to be fast along with a good start and stamina so mainly I’m working on the basics and taking it one step at a time.

JW: Who are your current sponsors and what bikes are you going to be on this season?
TA: Well the bike situation I’m not completely sure yet. Worst case scenario I’ll just ride my same bikes for the year. But my current sponsors are O’neal MX, Dunlop, Shoei, Common Clothing Unlimited, Sixsixone, Twin Air, Sunline and Track 1 Graphix.

JW: And Track 1 is your company, how are things with that going and what are some of things your company does?
TA: The company is going great, a lot of people are surprised I’m managing a company at sixteen years old but I just look at it as something useful to know how to do and to bring good products to the mx community. I specialize in MX graphics from semi-custom to full-custom and I can also do Leatt and Alpinestars neck braces, rider ID kits, t-shirts and jersey lettering, visit track1graphix.com to know more.

It is February race fans. And that usually means only one thing, Motorama! And after that, the race season is all but upon us. But before we jump that far, just yet. Lets look at current and Ms. Motorama 2009, Jessica Jordan! Jess did an absolute wonderful job in 2009. She one of the most fun and out going Ms. Motorama's I have seen in many years, as well as beautiful. She made many winners happy in 2009 with a big kiss along with the gold trophies. She is very easy and fun to work with. She has no issues with  jumped right up on the 4-wheeler guys laps for shots and the dirt and oil never seemed to cross her mind.  Truly and wonderful and fun girl, doing a great job in something she seems to really enjoy. Not to go without mention, she looks great doing it all in 2009! Here's a few shots of the beauty queen and small bio she put together for us. Thanks Jess, your the best!

Hello My name is Jessica Jordan! I am a 20-year-old student at Salisbury University located in Salisbury Maryland. I am Majoring in Elementary Education and have a passion for playing sports. While growing up I have spent most of my life in Boonsboro Maryland, Where I attended Boonsboro high school. Throughout my high school carrier I was on many athletic teams. I lettered in four years of varsity soccer, and was also team captain my senior year. I also ran indoor and outdoor track which she placed three times in the state championships. When I was a senior in high school I found a new passion of modeling by getting into different modeling competitions and photo shoots. I have worked with many great companies and photographers including: Twiggs Cycles, Déjà vu Clothing Company, South Moon Under, Vu Skateboarding Shop, Crown Sports, Amped Apparel and many local Photographers. In 2009 I was crowned Ms. Motorama in Harrisburg Pa. My favorite motorsport is Super cross and Motocross. My Family bought me my first bike when I was 13 and ever since then had a large passion for motor sports. I love these sports so much basically because I have grown up watching my family race and compete at local tracks. Every year I fly out to Los Angeles so I can see the X-games live. There will always be a passion in my heart for motorsports and the people who share the same interest!

Jess

Here's a perfect example of what Ms. Motorama is all about. Fun, beautiful and in it for the sport and racers. Here Jess gives young Ryan Clites #14 something to really smile about. I speak to Ryan on a regular basis threw FB or MS or some other social site we all use to much. And Ryan's said  he sure would like another win at Motorama, and another kiss from Ms. Motorama 2009 as well. Ryan's one of our best youngster's on the track and off the track in the area. So for your sake my friend, go get that kiss again this year too #14!

Jess is no stranger to the camera. Doing all kids of  model work from clothing lines to the Ms. Motoaram pageant and more. She's a stunning girl with a really bright future. I know myself, photographers love to work with her.  And we can only hope Ms. Motorama 2010 does as good of a job as Jess did in 2009. Thank you Jess, for your time and help at all the tracks in 2009. Thank you for being such a great girl to work with at the events.  And guys, don't be afraid to go up and bye a spina bifida bracelet this year from the reigning Ms. Motorama, Jessica Jordan! It's for a great cause, and you won't meet a nicer girl!

Girls and bikes truly do go hand in hand. A beautiful machine and a heaven sent angel to accent them.  It just don't get any better than that, as shown below by the lovely Ms Motorama 2009. There in not much more that can be said about the Maryland beauty queen. Other than come out the 32nd annual Motorama Event and say hello to all the pageant girls for the 2010 year. Don't miss out on this great event for all.

I'm sitting in front of my computer editing a video for a gig I was at this past week in New York and I get a call from a number I don't recognize, I answer and it's someone asking for information about Actiontown's LL Qualifier tomorrow. Soon to my surprise it turns out to be Johnny Moore's father! So I took the opportunity to see what Johnny Moore has been up to lately.
