CUMBERLAND KAWASAKI DOOR'S CLOSED!!
This was Cumberland Kawasaki's entrance to the building back in the 1980's. It was actually the back end of another building at that point. The first time I walked in the place I was shocked to see all this cool Kawasaki stuff crammed in the back of some other store, kinda?. But with in a few minutes I was greeted by the owner, Jerry. And we had officially started a multi-year racing relationship, and then became friends as well. I rode for Jerry for about 5 years myself. And guys like Steve Herman, Jeff Yentzer, Chris & Alan Gavlak, Jimmy Wilson, Kenny Kauffman, Team Greens Wes Turner and many more rode threw their legs over Cumberland Kawasaki bikes. The Carlisle based shop opened its doors way back in 1983. Threw those years, Jerry carried Can-am, ATK, Kawasaki's and in the last several years Suzuki also. For a small town shop, Jerry made the best of it for almost 30 years. December 30th the Cumberland Cycle Center closed it's doors. An ending of an ear for sure. I know when I drive down High St. in Carlisle Pa. now, it will never be exactly the same without the long time Cycle shop's sign's out front.

Inside the Cumberland shop was a bit tight, even in the newer loctation across the parking lot made in the 1990's. But sometimes smaller is better. I am sure I will get emails from the lady fans disagreeing with me. But the facts remain, some people like to deal with a "small" town business man who's sights are not set so high they over look the guy that just needs a lever, oil, or even just stopped to look around. After all, to get someone in the store is the key right? From that point it's all about the store and service they provide. And Jerry provided a great service for many years. To locals both on and off the road. And I personally thank him for the help he offered and gave me over the years. Like the country song says, "they are shutting Detroit down"........only it's not just Detroit!
This is Team Cumberland here. Jim in sales, Jerry owner and Jay working the wrenches in the back. All three guys have been in this sport a long time. Jim I have known for many many year's as a sales rep. First for the Honda BMW motor sports shop and then for Cumberland. I am not sure what Jim has in store next. But with his sales skills he should not have a tough time keeping busy in the near future. Jerry's options are open at this point to many things. From moving to the FL. Keys, which sounds like a Parrot head's dream move to me, to work in a shop. Or just do his own deal and stay right here in central Pa. I myself would love to see Jerry back at the tracks again in 2010. With all he knows, he's an asset at any track on the weekends if he chooses to be their. Good Luck to all three guys, I wish you simply the best in whats next for you.

After almost 30 years of servicing the needs and wants of motorcycle enthusiast in the Carlisle Pa. area. Cumberland Cycle's has closed it's doors. The last rider has rode off, with what I am sure is great deal in no matter what he bought. Like shop always provided. I know the Kawasaki dealership was sold to a place close by called Motovation. And the rest I am hearing was sold right in my neck of the woods Perry County. Though, I not 100% on those details yet. Anyway you slice it, doors close for some, and open for others. It is the cold hard facts of business and life. We can only hope to enjoy each and every day as it passes, and maybe slow down a minute and appreciate what all we do still have in this great sport and country. I am the first to agree things are a mess now, by evidence of this closing right here. But I am also a believer in that we are a strong nation, a strong work force and strong minded people. That now things can only go so far south before they have no choice but to go up, right?. And I hope that's the point at which we are at now. And going back up again! It's a sad day to lose a track, a shop, a racer and even a fan. My flag was at half mask this day.........Thanks Cumberland Cycles and Jerry, for the many years of service to our beloved sport. And thanks for helping me out was back in the early. You'll be missed.

There is only a few more posts left to make on GMXR.net and then everything will be all under the EastMX.com logo banner and title. We are in the process of making the change over now, though as I type this my partner has just recently been released home from Jefferson Hospital in Philly. Jace is doing a lot better and looks forward to getting back to work. Thanks for many of your emails and kind words on Jace. A really talented young kid who's work is top notch. Thank you for patients. We will be operating full time with daily updates very soon. Look for many new and great things in 2010 at EastMX.com.
Here we are on Pin -Up girl #4 Ashley. And most of you know and or see her on regular basis. Truly a girl next door. She is a staple of the Sleepy Hollow staff. Ashley may be one of the most accessible girls helping out in 2010. You can find her working at the races or supporting her national riding boy friend Jeremy Cook at the races. Ashley also help put together and run the 2009 Ms Motorama pageant. Maybe one of the best years I have seen in a long time. So good job there Ashley. I asked Ash, like the rest, to give us a preview of 2010. And she was happy to help out. So here's a few hot courtesy of Ashley and a little bio. Thanks Ash!:)

Ashley surely has some skills on the other side of the lens. She's easy on the eyes at the start line too, maybe to distracting for some. I do know she takes her job serious and works very hard. She is great with MX community and always at the tracks. I asked her to write something about herself and here's what Ashley had to say;
